About four times a year, we release a major update for iProva. In these updates, we introduce new features and make already existing functionalities work even easier and better. In these updates, we also ensure that iProva is technically 'up to date' remains. In that context, we are adding support for new Microsoft product versions - and discontinuing support for Microsoft product versions that are outdated.
In iProva 5.10, we have added support for Windows Server 2019.
In contrast, support for Windows Server 2008 as well as SQL Server 2008 will be discontinued in early 2020.
End of support Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2
If your organisation is still using Windows Server 2008 (or 2008 R2), we recommend preparing to migrate to a more recent version of Windows Server.
Retrieved from 14 January 2020 will provide extended support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 will be terminated by Microsoft. As a result, support for this Windows Server version in iProva will also be terminated.
This concerns:
- the iProva application server
- the iProva database server
- iProva client (in Terminal Server, Citrix and similar application scenarios)
You will effectively notice this with the first iProva major update coming out after 14 January 2020.
That update will give you not can install if still using Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2.
End of support for SQL Server 2008 / 2008 R2
If your organisation is still using SQL Server 2008 (or 2008 R2), we recommend preparing to migrate to a more recent version of SQL Server.
On 9 July 2019, the extended support for SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 terminated by Microsoft. As a result, support for this SQL Server version in iProva will also be ended. Infoland has chosen not to do this immediately on 9 July 2019, but to coincide with the end of support for Windows Server 2008.
You will effectively notice this with the first iProva major update coming out after 14 January 2020.
That update will give you not can install if still using SQL Server 2008 or 2008 R2.
Please note that the system requirements for newer SQL Server versions are likely to be higher than the system requirements for SQL Server 2008 (R2). Existing server(s) may not meet these higher system requirements.
Can I move iProva to new server(s) myself?
No, it is unfortunately not possible to transfer iProva to a new server yourself. This work must be carried out in cooperation with an Infoland system engineer. Please contact our sales department (sales@infoland.nl / sales@infoland.be ) for a tailor-made quote.
iProva SaaS: a good alternative?
Updating the server software for iProva is quite an investment.
Perhaps this is therefore a good time to consider a switch to iProva SaaS.
If you choose iProva SaaS, you choose an infrastructure that is always up-to-date, without any work or unexpected costs.
