Message posted on 24 February 2020 in iQualify

About four times a year, we release a major update for iQualify in addition to the minor updates. In these updates, we introduce new features and make already existing functionalities work even easier and better. These updates also ensure that iQualify stays technically 'up to date'.

iQualify 5.5 is available from Monday 2 March. Curious about what's new in this version? We've summarised it for you on this page.

Impact of this update

The changes made in this release have no direct impact on the primary process of administering tests and training. The impact for students and administrators is therefore estimated to be low.

End users: Low impact
Administrators: Low impact

Multilingual system texts

The language of iQualify can be customised by the user. This applies to both the student website, administrator website and supervisor dashboard. Each user can set the desired language before or after login to deviate from the organisation's default language. As of this release, more languages than before are also supported, namely:

  • English
  • German
  • French
  • Dutch

Setting the language determines the language of all system texts in iQualify. Think of all texts on buttons, columns, field names, but also the updated reports are now offered in more languages. For all fields you can fill in as administrator or learning content creator, there is no support for multilingualism. Fields of questions, tests, learning periods, welcome texts and the like cannot be made multilingual.

Renewed reports and certificates

Based on a new technique, all reports were rebuilt. This is because the technique used until now to generate reports and certificates in iQualify no longer met our current quality requirements. This concerns all .pdf files; all Excel files have not been changed. The appearance of the reports has changed as a result. All texts in these reports have been revised with many unnecessary texts removed. In terms of content/functionality, the reports have not been changed. Reports were also immediately made multilingual with this change. A report is displayed in the language of the user generating it.

The standard iQualify certificates have also been updated. Customised certificates that were still issued to students last year have also been converted. Certificates that are no longer used will be dropped in a future release.

Sharing iQualify training courses with LTI connection

It has always been possible to use tests from iQualify in another Learning Management System. Based on the widely used LTI standard, you can use learning materials in other systems. In effect, you then use iQualify to create, manage and access learning materials. The other system then controls who, when, can use which learning material. The interface of the test the user is shown is the same as it is shown in iQualify. Besides tests, it is now also possible to access iQualify training courses based on LTI from another LMS. With these trainings, you can create interactive learning content with different building blocks.

When adding shared learning materials, you can now choose from all tests and iQualify training.

Time-out after 5 incorrect login attempts

If you enter a wrong password 5 times in a row, you have to wait 1 minute before you can try again. This is a security measure to prevent malicious people from retrieving your login details. They could cause damage with your data in iQualify. In addition, you also run the risk of people trying to log into other services with the outdated password. This measure applies to both the student website and the administrator website.

Bug fixes

  • 59493: The estimated duration for a test was not properly calculated which sometimes resulted in it being incorrectly estimated as '0' even though there were questions in the test.
  • 61233: In the secure environment, some users mistakenly received a notification that they were logged into another system. This security measure was intended to prevent the same username from being used to log in 2 places at the same time. However, in some situations it was wrongly displayed.
  • 61248: When importing users using the Excel file, the first line of the table containing the column headers was also seen as a user. A user was therefore imported with the name "fldFirstName".
  • 61326: Activation codes for securely logging into the STE environment did not always work even though they were activated for the relevant location before they were used.
  • 61327: Shared keys that were in use could not be removed.
