Message posted on 17 September 2020 in iQualify

About four times a year, we release a major update for iQualify in addition to the minor updates. In these updates, we introduce new features and make already existing functionalities work even easier and better. These updates also ensure that iQualify stays technically 'up to date'.

iQualify 5.6 is available from Thursday 24 September. Curious about what's new in this version? We've summarised it for you on this page.

Impact of this update

The changes made in this release have no direct impact on the primary process of administering tests and training. The impact for students and administrators is therefore estimated to be low.

End users: Low impact
Administrators: Low impact

Safe keys but from home

Due to corona, tests cannot simply be taken in a physical room within the organisation. It is simply not yet possible to gather many students in one room at the same time. One solution to this is smaller group testing or home testing. Until now, however, it was not possible to use the secure STE environment for home testing.

As of this release, it is possible to use a secure site without IP restriction. This means that students can log in from anywhere in the world to take a test in the secure STE environment. To do this, a specific location must be created. The service desk can do this for you. Think of a good name that is clear to both students and teachers. Next, you can link a learning period to this location as usual. Students should not sign up for such a test via ste.iqualify.nl but at their own URL. If a test is ready for them then an extra block of this will be shown on the my courses page. By clicking on the location, the student enters the waiting room or has to enter an activation code depending on the chosen setup. From then on, everything works as if the test was taken in a secure location.

Linking groups with users to learning period

A new tab "Groups" has been added to a learning period. There you can link groups with users to the learning period. This works dynamically: if a student is added to the group, he or she automatically gets access to the learning period (provided it is available, of course). It also works the other way round, if a student is removed from a group then the learning period is no longer available. This makes managing participants in learning periods much easier in many situations. It is also still possible to add individual users, also filtering by group. We have also made this process a bit simpler: you can now filter on different groups and select individual students to add. In the list of participants, you eventually see all students who are entitled to this learning material. If a group is bold in this list, that is a reason why this student has access to the learning material.
